JE Reel 1310 OE Drive Shafts

While not essential with a lifted JK it was only going to be a matter of time before my drive shafts failed or the front got damaged on the transfer case skid plate. I decided that it’s better to replace them early rather than have them fail on me somewhere fun like Moab. I decided to go with the OE JE REEL 1310 vs. the CV unit because they retain the stock OEM flange mounts on the differentials and transfer case and I could use the old shafts could be saved for trail spares. This was actually my first real modification since I was waiting for my lift kit to arrive at the time.

Swapping the drive shafts was relatively easy. Simply unbolt the OEM shafts and bolt on the JE REEL shafts.

These pictures show the OEM flange on the rear differential and the new rear driveshaft installed.

Superior Dana 44 Jeep Wrangler JK 5.13

Re-gearing the Jeep was expensive but after a few weeks on the road and some wheeling experience in Moab I’m extremely happy with the results. On the highway and around town the gears are noticeable but the trail is where they shine.
