Kathy and I headed out to Ouray to hookup with Steve, Darla, Doug, Frank and Kat and go wheeling and camping.   This was a spur of the moment trip that we found out about when we were in Moab the week before.   We ran Mineral Gulch, Engineer?s Pass, Cinnamon Pass, California Gulch, Corkscrew gulch on the first day, camped overnight on Corkscrew Gulch and then ran Black Bear Pass, Imogene Pass and Yankee Boy Basin the following day.

We had a blast!

Starting out on Mineral Gulch just north of Ouray off of the Million Dollar Highway.

Waterfalls everywhere.

Kathy in an old mining building.

Some of the amazing views from the passes.

Camping towards the end of Corkscrew Gulch.  Not a bad place to live for a couple of nights :)

Morning view from the campsite :)

Group shot at the beginning of Black Bear Pass.

The wildflowers were abundant as we forged our way up the Ouray side of the trail.

Heading towards a typical stretch of Ouray's shelf roads.

Wildflowers everywhere and our first view of Telluride.

Heading into the abyss!   This is the beginning of the infamous switchbacks that lead down into Telluride.  I don't normally get scared on shelf roads but the first couple of switchbacks bothered me for once!  Kathy bailed out of the Jeep at this point :D

The powerhouse and Bridal Veil falls.

After Black Bear Pass we took Imogene Pass back to Ouray.   The beginning of the trail affords some great views of the switchbacks on Black Bear Pass.

Some of the amazing scenery on Imogene Pass.

Imogene Pass ends about halfway up Yankee Boy Basin so we headed up to the end of the trail for the views before heading back to our campsite.
