Our Image Gallery » 2008 Image Gallery » September 1st - Wheeling Spring Creek near Downiville, Colorado

Alan, Rob and I decided to run Spring Creek with the JKs and Rob's H3 on Labor Day so the three of us headed off from Alan’s house at about 10 AM. The trail was busy, but that's to be expected for a holiday weekend.

We ran into traffic just before the rock garden but it turned out that the hour wait was just the beginning of what was to be a long day. The JKs walked over the Rock Garden (the main obstacle on the trail) but Rob broke all sorts of things on his H3 (rendering it stranded). We spent a good 4 hours winching and towing him out of there but it was still a fun day of wheeling and the weather was perfect.

Kathy probably picked a good day to pass on wheeling ;)

The trail starts off with about two miles of narrow shelf roads with great views of I70. There’s an unnamed obstacle on a corner (with a drop off) that grabs your attention.

Some of the views are typical of Colorado wheeling :)

We ran into traffic at the chute about 1/4 mile before the Rock Garden. Alan and I walked right up but we had to strap Rob because of his street tires. This is also the spot where his punctured his rear diff.

The Rock Garden was fun which is why there are no good photos of us on it
